I am sure everyone reading this has had someone in their life experience the heartbreak of having a drug addict in their life. The current epidemic of deaths due to heroin/fentanyl mixtures has been devastating to many families throughout the U.S.

Unfortunately, the most unqualified people to address this issue are our politicians. Instead of actually addressing the situation, they want to institute more rules and regulations that make it more difficult for people who really need pain medication to obtain it. The drug addiction problem does not begin and end with patients with chronic pain; however our ill-educated politicians would have us believe that is the cause. Education of our youth, and family love and compassion are the keys to ending this painful cycle of addiction and death. If you know someone with a drug addiction issue, be open and caring. Urge them to seek professional help, and above all do not enable this crippling behavior.
