Statin drug use

“Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions” Winston Churchill.

Anyone who has read my newsletters knows that I am a staunch opponent of Big Pharma. I fell that a large portion of our population is overmedicated. Years ago, I wrote a newsletter outlining why I felt statin drugs were grossly overprescribed with little if any benefit for the majority of patients.
A recent study out of the U.S. found a link between statin drug use and an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. These new findings were from a long-term study of 3,234 patients were there noted that statin drug use was associated with a 36% increased risk of developing type 2diabetes. The researchers point to evidence suggesting that statins can impair insulin production.
