Microdontia

“Do not envy a successful man, rather seek to emulate him” Ralph Garcia.

Over the last 30 plus years I have seen a tremendous number of patients with congenitally missing or microdontic teeth. Microdontia is where permanent teeth are undersized, often peg shaped. Microdontia is most common in upper lateral teeth.

As a practicing clinician, one has 2 options.
Option 1, close all teeth together. Unfortunately, most orthodontists choose this option with terrible aesthetic and functional results. Option 2, treat the case as a full complement case, which basically means add missing teeth or add missing tooth volume to the undersized teeth. This is the option that our office utilizes. By treating patients as a full complement in both size and numbers, one will obtain the optimal aesthetic and functional end result.

Should you, or someone you love have questions about missing or microdontic teeth, please call our office for a complimentary consultation.

Sincerely,
Michael W. Dagostino DDS
