3D Printers

Dear Patients,

“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one!” – Brad Paisley

In my 29 years of practice, many things have changed. If you think about how much technology has impacted our lives since 1984, it is miraculous. Dentistry has been on the cutting of technology. Forward thinking researchers and clinicians have stretched the boundaries, improving virtually every aspect of the dental practice. Today we replace teeth that were extracted with titanium screws, we repair decayed and fractures teeth with materials that mimic our natural dentition. We straighten teeth with clear liners and custom milled tiny brackets.

In my opinion one of the most incredible technologic advances in the last 10 years is the 3 dimensional printers. These impressive machines are capable of taking a 3 dimensional scan of virtually any object and reproducing it to exact scale with incredible accuracy. It is this technology that allows “Smile True” to straighten teeth with transparent sequential positioners. These clear trays are made on 3 dimensional generated casts that are made from the patients’ original impression. Each tray or aligner is capable of moving a tooth or teeth .25 mm or 2 degrees. This amount of movement will occur within two weeks, allowing many orthodontic cases to be finishes with in 1 year. The best part of a 3d printing is that it has made the invisible braces treatment much more affordable.

If you or someone you love has questions about “Smile True” clear aligner treatment, please contact our office for a complimentary consultation.

Sincerely,

Michael W. Dagostino, DDS
